Summary:
Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

Review:
This was my second time reading this book. The first time I read it, I loved it. I fell hard for Daemon, connected with Katy, and couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. It was definitely a 5 star read. The second time I read it, though, my opinion changed. While I didn't hate it, it wasn't the incredible story that I remembered it to be. There were some flaws that affected my enjoyment of this book.

My biggest problem with this story would have to be Daemon. While I was a fan of his the first time I read this novel, his arrogant attitude didn't appeal to me nearly as much the second time. Throughout the whole novel, I wanted Katy to punch him. I know a lot of readers felt that way during the first half of the book, then he proceeded to grow on them, but that wasn't the case for me. He never truly grew on me. However, I must admit, he did become slightly less irritating at the end. Just slightly, though.

Katy remained my favorite character. The fact that she was not only an avid reader, but a book blogger made her extremely easy to connect with. I loved basically everything about her. In my opinion, she was way too good for Daemon.

Jennifer L. Armentrout is an amazing author. She really has a way with words. I've read a few books by her, and the one thing that they all have in common is the writing. Even if one of her novels was a horrible read otherwise (ahem, Half-Blood), the writing always made the book better.

The first time I read this story, it was a five star read. However, the second time around, it lost a star. While Armentrout is still one of my favorite authors, Obsidian is no longer my favorite book.
